Cotes du Rhone Villages is an appellation centered around 16 villages which produce superior wines with more intensity than Cotes du Rhone and must also adhere to higher standards.
The villages are, Beaumes-de-Venise, Cairanne, Chusclan, Laudun, Rasteau, Rochegude, Roaix, Rousset-les-Vignes, Sablet, Saint-Gervais, Saint-Gervais-sur-Eygues, Saint-Panteleon, Seguret, Valreas, Vinsobre and Vissan.
Red wines from Cotes du Rhone Villages must use a minimum of 50% Grenache and a minimum of 20% of Syrah and Mourvedre either together or separately while whites are made from Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Marsanne, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Viognier.
