Côte de Beaune is a sub region of Burgundy and takes its name from the town of Beaune which is the center of wine production and famed for some of the most expensive white wines in the world usually bearing the name Montrachet on the label.

It is also home to some of the top reds from Premier Cru vineyards such as Pommard and Corton Grand Cru.

As with the rest of Burgundy white wines are made from the Chardonnay grape variety and reds from the Pinot Noir grape variety.

The region is made up from the following appellations,  Aloxe-Corton, Auxey-Duresses, Beaune, Blagny, Chassagne-Montrachet, Chorey-les-Beaune, Corton Grand Cru, Cote de Beaune-Villages, Ladoix, Maranges, Meursault, Monthelie, Pernand-Vergelesses, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Saint-Romain, Santenay, Savigny-les-Beaune and Volnay.
