Chablis is an appellation in Northern Burgundy famous for producing excellent white wines. It is located north-west of the main Burgundy appellations and is actually closer to the Sancerre appellation in the Loire region.
Chablis is produced exclusively from the Chardonnay grape variety and makes wines that are fruity, very dry and with a refreshing acidity. It gives aromas of green apple, lemon, nuts, butter and mineral In the mouth Chablis delivers aromas of vanilla, lemon and linden.
There are four appellations within Chablis starting from the top, Chablis Grand Cru, Chablis Premier Cru, Chablis and Petit Chablis.
Chablis Grand Crus can be aged up to 15 years.
